About Fit Y.O.U.T.H
The “Fit Y.O.U.T.H.” (Youth Obtaining Ultimate & Total Health) Program is a comprehensive, collaborative effort to educate children and families on healthy habits and lifestyles that will last a lifetime and help eliminate childhood obesity. Overweight and obese youth are at an increased risk of developing serious health problems that can affect their health into adulthood.
Our Mission
Fit Y.O.U.T.H. will make a sustained commitment to childhood wellness through collaborative efforts which will include working with schools, families, and communities to provide education, opportunities, and resources to combat and prevent childhood obesity in the following ways:
1. Provide physical fitness and nutrition educational opportunities as an ongoing basis to learn about and practice healthy behaviors
2. Promote and provide access to appropriate health education regarding healthy eating and active living
3. Develop and utilize an expert advisory panel that will help strengthen healthy eating and physical activity environments for all children
4. Participate in efforts to routinely track and monitor BMI prevalence by evaluating data and implementing efforts to reduce BMI
5. Offer physical fitness and nutrition education and opportunities through various avenues such as in-school and before/after-school programs, through Fit-N-Wise classes, community events, etc.
